The place where it all began over 45 years ago: Loetje Amsterdam Café on Johannes Vermeerstraat in Amsterdam Zuid. Founded in 1977 by Ludwig ‘Loetje’ Klinkhamer as a billiard café. When the now-famous tenderloin steak hit the menu, the billiard tables quickly faded into the background, and history was made.
These days, you can still enjoy the tastiest steak in Amsterdam every day at Loetje Amsterdam Café. Our restaurant, with a spacious terrace right in the middle of the city and just around the corner from the Albert Cuyp Market, has that real Loetje Café vibe. Nothing like your typical steakhouse. This special spot is where you enjoy lunch, drinks and dinner, Loetje style.

At Loetje, dogs on a leash are welcome on the terrace. This way, you can enjoy a bite to eat and a drink together.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed inside our restaurant due to hygiene regulations.
Unfortunately, Loetje Amsterdam Café does not have a wheelchair-accessible toilet, due to the old and original building in which we are located. However, the entrance is wheelchair accessible, making the restaurant easily accessible.
Reservations are not required, but we do recommend them, especially on weekends or during busy days. That way, you can be sure that a table will be waiting for you. You can make a reservation quickly and easily via our website.
